Apendix 1 : The Balkans
The Balkans of the River The Balkan Mountains (anciently Haemus) extend from the Iron Gates rise to Danube (Rum and Orsova) to Cape Enimehon the Black Sea. The mountains have a height of over 7,000 feet.
The Balkan Peninsula. Bounded on the north by the River Danube and the River Sava. Bounded on the east by the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmora. Bounded on the west by the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea. Bounded on the south by the Mediterranean Sea. Turkey-in-the Balkans now include Albania, Bulgaria, Greece,Yugoslavia, and Europe.
